Flashing from Fastboot Fails with "bootloader) Preflash Validation Failed"

I am experiencing an issue flashing my device using fastboot. The process consistently fails with the error message "(bootloader) Preflash validation failed." However, I have found a workaround that works intermittently. By flashing the latest stable build (27.0, approximately 7 months old), patching, and then flashing the boot.img with that build, followed by updating to the latest Canary version and using the Magisk installation method, I am able to successfully patch and flash the boot.img.
