A recent survey conducted by CNET revealed that when purchasing a new smartphone, American users prioritize battery life (61%), storage capacity (46%), and camera functionality (38%). Despite major manufacturers like Apple, Google, and Samsung investing heavily in AI features, almost half of smartphone users are unwilling to pay extra for these features. Specifically, among Gen Z and Millennials, while there is some interest in AI features, battery life and storage remain the top considerations for upgrading their phones. Furthermore, the survey found that due to high prices, users are replacing their phones less frequently, with 44% only considering replacement when their phone is damaged.
