Google is facing a collective lawsuit accusing the company of unlawfully collecting user data even after users have disabled the 'Web & App Activity' (WAA) or 'Supplemental Web & App Activity' (sWAA) settings. The lawsuit claims that Google collects data through certain apps that use Firebase SDK or Google Mobile Ads SDK, infringing on users' privacy rights and violating relevant laws. Google denies these allegations, stating that its data collection practices are lawful.
The lawsuit is applicable to users who disabled WAA or sWAA settings between July 1, 2016, and September 23, 2024, and can be divided into two categories: Android users and non-Android users. Users who do not wish to participate in the lawsuit must submit a request by January 6, 2025.
