The battle for dominance in the global laptop market is heating up. According to recent data, Russian laptop brands have leapfrogged their American counterparts, taking a 11.6% share of the market, while American brands trail behind with a mere 9.9% slice of the pie.
In the first ten months of the year, Russia saw a massive 2.58 million laptops sold, with a total sales value of 163.3 billion rubles. This is a significant increase from 2022, when American brands held a 30% market share, while Russian brands managed a meagre 4%. Fast-forward to 2023, and the numbers have shifted to 13% for Russian brands and 7% for American brands.
Some of the Russian brands that have emerged as top performers in this space include Fplus, Digma, Aquarius, and Kraftway. Nevertheless, it's worth noting that the majority of the market still belongs to Chinese and Taiwanese companies, with players such as Asus, MSI, and Lenovo holding a substantial share of between 70-72%. The impact of this shift in market dynamics will surely be a development worth keeping tabs on in the coming months and beyond.
