The Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) officially opened the Basic Training (Latsar) for Civil Servants (CPNS) Class III, Angkatan 39 and 40 in 2024. The opening ceremony was held at the BMKG Citeko Building in Bogor, and was officially opened by Deputy for Meteorology, Guswanto.

In his opening remarks, Guswanto emphasized the importance of Latsar as a landmark for character development and competency enhancement of Government Officials. "In the era of fast-paced globalization and digitalization, Government Officials are expected to be able to face various complex challenges with confidence." Guswanto continued, hoping that all participants would take the program seriously and make the most of the opportunity to learn and grow.

Furthermore, Guswanto highlighted the importance of implementing the BerAKHLAK values (Berorientasi, Akuntabel, Kompeten, Harmonis, Loyal, Adaptif, and Kolaboratif) as a moral base for Government Officials to provide better and more responsive services to the community. These values are expected to encourage more efficient and accountable performance in the BMKG environment.

The purpose of this training is to equip CPNS with the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties as Government Officials. The Latsar program is also expected to produce Government Officials who are not only technologically competent but also have integrity and good morals.

This event is attended by 80 participants from various BMKG branches across Indonesia in a Blended Learning format. With the implementation of Latsar, BMKG is committed to producing qualified personnel who are ready to face the challenges in the field of Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics in Indonesia.
