OpenAI-backed robot company 1X Technologies has recently unveiled its humanoid robot prototype, NEO Beta, specifically designed for home use. To test its culinary skills, the company arranged a cooking competition against Net Red Chef Nick DiGiovanni. However, the entire experience was not fully autonomous, as 1X Technologies needed to remotely control the robot to help it learn the cooking process. Even tasks like chopping vegetables required human assistance. The robot can currently execute tasks like delivering items, making coffee, and organizing objects. 1X Technologies will deploy the robot in a few households to collect data and train the model. If successful, the company will produce NEO Beta on a large scale in its Norwegian factory.
