There seems to be an issue with patching the boot.img on Rockchip Android 14 arm64 devices using Magisk v28. When patching the image with the latest version of Magisk, the patched image size remains the same as the original stock image, even though the Magisk app indicates that the patching process was successful. However, this version of Magisk claims that Magisk is not installed after flashing the patched boot.img, and the Magisk app shows that Magisk is not installed. Adjusting to a previous version of Magisk resolves the size issue but also means that Magisk cannot be confirmed as installed. On the other hand, when using the previous version of Magisk, the patched boot.img is 100KB larger in size, yet the Magisk app still indicates that it is not installed. Interestingly, after flashing the patched Magisk boot.img on the device, the Magisk app states that the Ramdisk - Yes, but Magisk Installed - N/A on Android 14. This discrepancy raises questions about Magisk's support for boot images on Android 14 or whether there are workarounds to solve this issue. To clarify, rooting Magisk worked successfully on the same device with Android 12, suggesting that the problem is specific to the combination of Rockchip Android 14 and Magisk. Therefore, it would be beneficial to investigate further whether Magisk supports the boot images from Android 14 or to explore possible solutions to this problem to ensure that users can enjoy root access on their devices.
