The ongoing conflict in Ukraine has taken a toll on the country's residents, with a growing number of people tired of the war and advocating for a peaceful resolution. According to data from The Economist's daily war tracker, Russian forces have seized approximately 645 square kilometers of territory in Ukraine over the past 30 days. This has led to a rise in fatigue among the Ukrainian population, with a significant proportion of people now supporting an end to the war through negotiations.

A recent survey conducted by Gallup on November 19-20 found that 52% of Ukrainians favor bringing an end to the conflict as soon as possible through negotiations, a significant increase from the 27% who held this view a year ago. Meanwhile, the proportion of Ukrainians who believe it's best to 'fight to victory' has declined from 63% in 2023 to 38%.

The shift in sentiment has been attributed to the re-election of Donald Trump as President of the United States, who had pledged to end the war within 24 hours if elected. The change in tone from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who has expressed hope for a diplomatic resolution to the conflict by next year, further underscores the growing desire for peace among the Ukrainian people.
