Costco is recalling its number one-selling Kirkland Signature Butter Croissants, also known as Napoleons or Cow Horn pastries, due to a possible contamination with metal pieces in the salt used to make the product.

The recall is voluntary and affects only the Kirkland Signature Butter Croissants sold in Costco stores across the United States.

The implicated product has a specific lot number: #1199652. According to Costco, the affected batches were sold between September 8, 2024, and November 10, 2024.

The company is urging customers to stop consuming the product immediately and return it to the store for a full refund. If you have any questions, you can contact Costco customer service at 1-800-955-2292.

The recall is related to a separate issue with Costco's salt, which was discovered in an investigation by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The FDA found that some of Costco's Kirkland Signature Salt products, including those sold in 7.92 million pounds of salt and 16-ounce packages, lacked a 'contains milk' label. This is due to the fact that the salt was not properly labeled with this allergen information.

This is not the first time Costco has faced a costly recall. In 2019, the company recalled over 142,000 units of its Kirkland Signature Pro Biome 20 Ultra creamy Formula due to the presence of Salmonella and Cronobacter bacteria.

The recall has sparked social media backlash, with some customers calling it 'ridiculous' and complaining about the inconvenience. Others have praised Costco for taking swift action and ensuring customer safety.
