Chinese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer Byd has signed agreements with 10 local governments in Japan to utilize its EVs as a power source for emergency situations such as natural disasters. The deal includes providing power to evacuation centers, hospitals, and other facilities.
Byd's 'ATTO3' model can supply enough electricity for a household for approximately four days. The company aims to create a stable power supply system using its EVs, which can be used in emergency situations when the mainland power supply is disrupted.
The partnership is seen as a strategic move by Byd to expand its presence in the Japanese market, where the demand for EVs is expected to rise significantly in the near future. Byd has already established a strong presence in Japan through its sales and service centers, and this partnership is expected to further enhance its market share.
The emergency power supply system using Byd's EVs is expected to be operational by the end of 2024, with the company planning to expand the service to more regions in the future. This move is seen as a significant contribution to Japan's disaster relief efforts and a demonstration of Byd's commitment to providing sustainable energy solutions.
