Rumor mill has been churning out speculative stories lately regarding Meta's VR headset design being outsourced to GOER shares. Developer Cix Liv, a prominent figure in the VR community, recently claimed that Meta has indeed handed over the design of its VR headsets to GOER in an attempt to cut costs and boost efficiency. According to Liv, Reality Labs, the division responsible for the development of Meta's Quest hardware, is likely to undergo a massive layoff in the first quarter of 2025.
However, Meta's Chief Technology Officer Andrew Bosworth has swiftly debunked these rumors through a public post. He emphasized that Meta is committed to retaining full ownership and control of its VR headset design, and any allegations suggesting otherwise are simply misinformation. While Bosworth didn't provide further details, his assurance serves as a clear indication that the company remains dedicated to developing its own VR headsets, with no intention of relinquishing control to a third-party entity like GOER.
