A technology analyst, Patrick Moorhead, has stated that despite potential losses, Qualcomm has the capability to immediately discontinue supplying 5G modems to Apple. Based on the projected sales of 90 million units of the iPhone 16 series, the sales of 5G modems alone from this product line can generate approximately $2.52 billion in revenue for Qualcomm.

Apple plans to start using its own 5G modems in the iPhone SE 4, but its licensing agreement with Qualcomm is set to expire in March 2027. Currently, Apple still relies on Qualcomm's technology support.
