**US Set to Implement Mandatory Seat Belt Alert Systems for Rear Seat Passengers**
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has announced new regulations requiring all new passenger vehicles produced starting September 2027 to be equipped with a rear seat occupant alert system.
Under the new rule, when a rear seat passenger is not buckled up, the alert system will go off to remind them to wear a seat belt. This regulation expands on the existing mandate that requires drivers to wear a seat belt, reinforcing the importance of road safety through a comprehensive approach.
