On December 17, 2024, Chinese Ambassador to Mauritania Chen Zhihong met with the new Mauritanian Minister of Handicrafts, Culture, Hospitality and Tourism, Da Fei.

Chen Zhihong congratulated Da Fei on taking up his new position as Culture Minister, emphasizing that culture is the foundation of a nation and people-to-people exchange is an essential component of China-Mauritania relations. China wishes to strengthen cultural exchange cooperation with Mauritania, implement the 'Person-to-Person Exchange Partners Action' proposed by the Beijing Summit of the China-Africa Cooperation Forum, and promote mutual understanding and friendship between the peoples of China and Mauritania.

Da Fei expressed Mauritania's willingness to deepen learning and take inspiration from China's cultural strength, and work closely with China to implement the outcomes of the China-Africa Cooperation Forum and strengthen the strategic partnership between China and Mauritania.
Chinese and Mauritanian leaders discussed ways to further enhance cultural and people-to-people exchanges, promote mutual understanding and trust between the two nations, and unleash the potential for mutually beneficial cooperation, including in the fields of culture, education, science and technology, and economic development.
The meeting marked a new chapter in the development of bilateral relations between China and Mauritania, and paved the way for increased cooperation in a range of areas, including culture, education, science and technology, and economic development.
