According to the latest statistics from the Ministry of Energy and Mining, Peru's major metal production has seen a significant increase in the first five months of 2024. As of May 2024, six out of the eight main metals have seen a notable increase in production. Tin lead the pack with a 92.1% increase, followed by molybdenum with a 27.6% increase, gold with a 16.3% increase, and lead with an 11.3% increase.
As of May 2024, tin production has reached 13,542 tons, representing a 92.1% increase from the same period in 2023. The monthly production of 2,746 tons in May 2024 has also seen a 7.2% increase from the same month in 2023.
Molybdenum production has reached 16,777 tons, representing a 27.6% increase from the same period in 2023. The monthly production of 3,762 tons in May 2024 has also seen a 22.7% increase from the same month in 2023.
Gold production has reached 43,476,428 grams, representing a 16.3% increase from the same period in 2023. The monthly production in May 2024 has also seen a 4.5% increase from the same month in 2023.
Lead production has reached 114,185 tons, representing a 11.3% increase from the same period in 2023. The monthly production of 24,739 tons in May 2024 has also seen a 19.8% increase from the same month in 2023.
Silver production has seen a 10.6% increase from the same period in 2023. Meanwhile, iron production has seen a 9.3% increase, and copper a slight increase of 0.005%.
