After a year of development, the free cross-platform interpreter for classic adventure games, ScummVM 2.9.0, has been released. This release replaces executable files for games and allows users to run many classic games on platforms they were not originally designed for. The project's code is released under the GPLv3+ license.

More than 340 games are supported, including titles from LucasArts, Humongous Entertainment, Revolution Software, Cyan, and Sierra, such as Maniac Mansion, Monkey Island, Broken Sword, Myst, Blade Runner, King's Quest 1-7, Space Quest 1-6, Discworld, Simon the Sorcerer, Beneath A Steel Sky, Lure of the Temptress, and The Legend of Kyrandia. The supported platforms include Linux, Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, PS Vita, Switch, Dreamcast, AmigaOS, Atari/FreeMiNT, RISC OS, Haiku, PSP, PS3, Maemo, GCW Zero, and others.

Linux users can access the game by visiting the official website or by using a command-line interface. The game can be installed on various Linux distributions, including Ubuntu, Debian, and Fedora.
