The FBI's largest-ever mass takedown operation, Anom, has led to the exposure of a key witness who will be revealed in court proceedings. The whistleblower, identified only by their alias 'Afgoo', provided the FBI with critical information about the encrypted communication app Anom, which was later compromised to intercept over 2.7 million messages from crime syndicates around the world.

The operation, dubbed Anom, involved hundreds of crime groups across more than 100 countries, including South American drug cartels, Australian motorcycle gangs, and underworld figures hiding in Dubai. The whistleblower was rewarded with $120,000 and expenses paid of $60,000, as well as the possibility of reduced sentencing.

The government has stated that they will disclose the whistleblower's identity in court proceedings. If the case goes to trial, the whistleblower may be required to testify, and their identity will be revealed in open court. This puts them at risk of retaliation from captured criminals.
