There is a recent surge in the number of people infected with the Human Para-pneumonic Influenza Virus (HPIV) in China. According to the Chinese Disease Prevention and Control Center, the acute respiratory infectious disease is showing a persistent upward trend. Notably, the infection rate of HPIV has been increasing steadily.

HPIV is primarily transmitted through respiratory droplets and close contact. When infected, symptoms are similar to those of influenza, with patients experiencing fever, coughing, and runny nose. This illness is distinct from other respiratory infections.

Interestingly, the current outbreak is more prevalent among children under the age of 14 and in northern provinces, with a more pronounced upward trend in these regions.
