AMD's upcoming mobile platform, Fire Range, has been spotted on the Geekbench database with a codename Zen 5 and 16 cores. This new platform is said to replace the current Dragon Range series and is expected to be unveiled at CES 2025. The processor is designed for AMD's HX platform and will maintain compatibility with existing sockets, making it easier for laptop manufacturers to adapt to the new technology.

The Fire Range platform has already been tested on Reddit, and according to Geekbench's AI-powered performance testing, the chip shows significant improvements over the Ryzen 9 7945HX. Additionally, a pre-production sample of the Ryzen 9 9950X3D, based on Zen 5, has been sighted, which has 16 cores as well.

The new processor is rumored to be integrated into the ROG Strix G16 laptop, which may feature the GeForce RTX 50 graphics card. The release of the new platform is expected to bring about a new level of performance and efficiency in the mobile market.

Future tests, including gaming benchmarks, are to be expected in the coming weeks. AMD's Fire Range platform represents a significant leap in mobile processing power, ensuring that the company remains competitive in the rapidly evolving mobile computing landscape.
