Meta has acknowledged that a software update is to blame for the issue, and that they are actively working on a fix. Most users have since been able to use their headsets normally. Previously, some users who were no longer under warranty reported that Meta refused to repair or replace their headsets, but it appears that this may no longer be the case.

Initially, Meta only mentioned that the issue was affecting the Quest 3S, without mentioning the Quest 2 or 3, or specifying the software version. However, new support information suggests that customer support has received new guidance and that the issue should be resolved.
