Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) is gearing up for the mass production of 4-nanometer chips at its Arizona plant in 2025, but the prices will increase by 30% due to the high production costs in the US. The plant is expected to produce 20,000 wafers per month, and key clients such as Apple, NVIDIA, AMD, and Qualcomm will be among the beneficiaries. However, the American production will be much more expensive due to the shortage of materials in the US. Currently, it is more beneficial for clients to receive chips from Taiwan, where the production cost is lower. TSMC hopes that by 2028, the situation will change with the introduction of 2-nanometer chips production in the US. However, it is still uncertain whether the company will be able to overcome the challenges of material supply during that time.
