I recently discovered that I haven't played games on my PC for the past two years, since September 2020, which is when I last played Dota 2 and other multiplayer games with my friends via online voice chat. I was so hooked on gaming back then that I even used an aux cable to repurpose my old iPhone 4 as a microphone to save money.
With the advent of the internet and social platforms, I got excited about playing online games, starting from online multiplayer map builders like Red Alert to Civilization VI. My all-time favorite genre is action-packed RTS, which requires quick reflexes and strategic thinking. However, I eventually got tired of playing overly complex games like MMORPGs and other role-playing games that require long-term dedication.
In 2022, I decided to begin exploring virtual world-building, which induced a smooth transition from playing RPGs to reading. The earliest form of virtual reality is language and storytelling, also known as 'painting with words,' which led to the advent of written text. I previously mentioned that written texts are a form of virtual reality, but I should have been more precise in my earlier statement.
This week, I played 60 rounds of Team Fortress on the old KK platform, which is no longer active. I still managed to climb from bronze 3 to bronze 1 with a fluctuating win-loss record of 1-3. My game sense and reflexes have also declined, but I still enjoy playing games, especially after a long day. However, I need to improve my game mechanics and strategy to rise to the next level.
This year, I plan to focus on conquering Civilization VI before the end of the year. I have played a total of 3 hours of the game and have finally grasped the basics of the game mechanics. There are 5 possible victory methods in the game: Religious, Cultural, Domination, Science, and Score-based victories.
I also plan to focus on understanding the game's subtleties, such as the optimal placement of city tiles, resource management, and hero management.
With my passion for gaming and my love for strategy and action-packed gameplay, I am confident that I will be able to conquer Civilization VI and many other games in the future.
