After securing a job at a local state-owned enterprise in Nanning, I realized that the salary, around 5,000 RMB per month, was not as lucrative as I had expected. Moreover, the promotion opportunities did not seem as promising as those in the public sector, leading to a significant psychological gap. Prior to accepting the offer, I had been considering big-tech companies like ByteDance and Tencent, which were offering over 50,000 RMB in salary to new graduates. However, I decided to give up on these opportunities and join the state-owned enterprise instead. I am now seeking advice from veteran programmers on how to cope with the psychological gap and develop a plan to achieve my career goals. As a young person, I am concerned about becoming stuck in a stable yet unfulfilling job, which may lead to the waste of my skills.
