A 33-year-old mother in Singapore has been sentenced to 13 months in jail for physically abusing her 6-year-old son. The judge presiding over the case described the footage of the abuse as 'unbearable' to watch. The mother, who was living with her son and her boyfriend at the time of the incident, repeatedly hit her son on the back with a belt, causing over 50 injuries including bruises and cuts. The boy was also subjected to physical abuse, including being punched, kicked, and forced to stand on his head, with his mother and boyfriend watching. The judge said that the case was 'utterly unacceptable' and that the mother's actions could have caused 'long-term harm' to her son. The sentence is the maximum allowed for abuse of a child under 14.
