I live in a developed city in the southern region, where I have recently experienced two incidents of phone scams and police intrudations. The first incident occurred when I received a call from a bank in Hong Kong, claiming that I had been involved in a fraudulent transaction. I was instructed to freeze all my bank cards and was told that I needed to return to the bank to confirm this information. However, after arriving at the bank, I was informed that the cards had not been frozen and that it was all just a misunderstanding.
The second incident involved a blue screen of death issue on my Mac, which I tried to troubleshoot with the help of an Apple customer service representative. However, after two days of trying to get in touch with me, the representative suddenly stopped calling me and instead contacted the police. The police informed me that there was a warning order against me and that I had been involved in a suspicious phone call with someone from Shanghai. I denied any wrongdoing and told the police that the call was from Apple customer service.
Both incidents led to a series of phone calls and police visits to my home, where I was interrogated and asked to provide information about my phone usage. In the second incident, the police even asked me to install a anti-fraud app on my phone, which I did after some hesitation. However, as soon as I got home, I uninstalled the app and began to wonder about the legitimacy of these incidents. I couldn't help but feel that the police were overstepping their bounds and that these incidents were just another form of harassment.
