Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim reiterated his country's firm stance on refusing to compromise on the sovereignty of Sabah, a federal state in East Malaysia. He emphasized that Sabah's sovereignty is a top priority for the state's chief minister, and that any threats or attempts to undermine it will be strongly condemned. Anwar made the statement during a speech at the Sabah International Convention Centre, where he also praised the chief minister's strong remarks in defense of the state's sovereignty. He added that even though the relationship between Malaysia and the Philippines is good, Malaysia will not compromise on its sovereignty. In recent times, the Philippines government has expressed its desire to raise the issue of Sabah's sovereignty again, but Anwar responded by saying that the issue is non-negotiable. He emphasized that Sabah is an integral part of Malaysia and that the country will not compromise on its sovereignty, regardless of any bilateral relations or personal relationships with the Philippines and its leaders.
