OpenAI has announced that it will soon require organizations to complete an identity verification process to access certain advanced AI models through its API. This verification process is called "Verified Organization" and is described as a new way for developers to unlock the company's most advanced models and features.
According to OpenAI's support page, the verification process will require organizations to provide government-issued identification documents from the country where the OpenAI API is supported. OpenAI notes that a single ID can only be verified for one organization every 90 days and not all organizations are eligible for verification.
The move is seen as a way for OpenAI to ensure that its advanced AI models are only accessed by legitimate and authorized parties.
