The Indonesian Trade Minister has announced the export of three Nike brand footwear products to the European Union (EU) and the United States, valued at IDR 65 billion. These footwear products were produced by PT Always Cinta Indonesia, a member company of Karet Murni Kencana (KMK) Group. The government continues to support businesses and industries in various ways to enable them to continue increasing their export capacity. They encourage labor-intensive shoe factories, such as Nike manufacturing plants, to continue increasing their exports. The Trade Minister stated that the release of footwear exports proves the cooperation between the government and the private sector, encouraging export-oriented manufacturing to become part of the global supply chain. Meanwhile, Indonesia is the world's sixth-largest footwear exporter, with a growth rate of 13.13% in footwear exports to the world over the past five years (2019-2023). The Trade Minister also praised PT SCI for being the first international market shoe factory to expand to Central Java and absorb nearly 20,000 workers, with SCI products exported to 57 countries. In addition, the Trade Minister praised the partnership between Nike Indonesia and Indonesian manufacturing companies. He expressed his gratitude and appreciation to PT Always Cinta Indonesia, KMK Group, and Nike Indonesia for their cooperation in encouraging the increase of Indonesian footwear products exports. The EU is one of the main destinations for Indonesia's footwear products, with exports valued at USD 698 million from January to May 2024. The US is also one of the main export destinations for Indonesia's footwear products, with exports valued at USD 914 million from January to May 2024, up 19.43% from the same period in 2023, or 12.86%. The global footwear export market remains promising, with an estimated average annual growth rate of 3.43% from 2024 to 2028. By 2024, global footwear income is expected to reach USD 412 billion.
