Nobara 42 has been released, a gaming and creative fork of Fedora. The foundation is Fedora Linux 42, with patches for games, streaming, and content. There are 9 image options, including KDE, GNOME, Steam-HTPC (for Steam Deck), and builds with NVIDIA drivers.

Key features include a ready-to-use environment 'out of the box' (proprietary codecs, drivers, Steam, Lutris, OBS Studio, Wine), support for Waydroid (ashmem, binder), and kernel patches:

* Reduced latency (Zenify), support for Steam Deck, Microsoft Surface, and ASUS/Lenovo Legion laptops
* Fixes for OpenRGB, AMDGPU on old GPUs, and Nouveau+Wayland compatibility
* Other:
* SELinux replaced by AppArmor
