China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) and seven other departments have jointly released a draft of the car data export management guidelines, outlining the rules for the export of autonomous driving algorithms, training images, operational data, and vehicle-road coordination perception information. This move is expected to boost Tesla's plans for autonomous driving in China, as the data security regulations that previously restricted the deployment of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) such as Tesla's Full Self-Driving (FSD) feature are set to be relaxed. With the new rules in place, Tesla will be able to export local data to the United States for use in training and optimizing its core team. The company has already partnered with Baidu to process map data, and this collaboration is expected to be further strengthened with the implementation of the new rules. As Tesla continues to push the boundaries of autonomous driving technology, the company's partnership with Baidu and the relaxation of data security regulations are likely to play a significant role in its success in the Chinese market.
