Taiwan has taken a significant step in its efforts to restrict the export of sensitive technologies to China by adding Huawei and Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (SMIC) to its list of entities subject to export controls. According to the latest update published on the website of the Taiwan International Trade Bureau, the agency has included Huawei and SMIC, along with several of their subsidiaries, on its so-called 'strategic high-tech product entity list.' Although the Taiwan International Trade Bureau has not publicly announced this change, the move is in line with the current regulations in Taiwan, which require local companies to obtain government approval before shipping goods to entities on the list. This development marks a significant escalation in Taiwan's efforts to restrict the export of sensitive technologies to China, and it is likely to have far-reaching implications for the global technology industry.
