Alibaba is set to announce a major business overhaul on September 10, which will involve revamping Dianping and collaborating with Gaode's group buying business. This move aims to rebuild the local life consumption decision-making system, directly competing with industry giants such as Dazhong Dianping.
Dianping was founded in 2004 and was acquired by Alibaba in 2008. It has undergone multiple suspensions and revamps, with this being the third major revamp. The revamped Dianping will utilize data from Ele.me, Gaode, and Alipay to create a new consumer decision-making evaluation system.
Meanwhile, Gaode Maps will also launch its self-operated group buying business, which is currently building relevant product capabilities.
This move is part of Alibaba's efforts to revamp its local life services and compete with industry giants. By leveraging its vast resources and capabilities, Alibaba aims to create a more comprehensive and convenient local life experience for consumers.
