The latest update for OCCT 15 has brought about an unusual feature: the 3D Adaptive test can now detect and reproduce the whine of computer fans as a melody. This experimental function modulates the GPU load by adjusting the fan speed and resistor settings to identify the whine. The effect varies depending on the graphics card model, casing design, and fan construction, with some users experiencing complete silence despite high fan speeds. In gaming, the whine is often noticeable at high frame rates. The initial release includes three pre-set melodies, with plans to add user-created options in the future.
