A former high-ranking official in Guizhou Province, China, has been convicted of corruption for accepting over 17.45 million yuan in bribes. The official, identified as Jiang Yaping, was found guilty of using their position to provide favors to related units and individuals in project approval and project acceptance matters, resulting in the receipt of a total of over 17.45 million yuan in bribes. The bribes were received between 2017 and 2025, during which time Jiang held various positions, including Party committee member, vice-lieutenant, and lieutenant of the Guizhou Provincial Big Data Development Management Bureau, as well as president of the Guizhou Academy of Sciences. Jiang pleaded guilty and expressed remorse in court. The prosecution has requested that Jiang be held criminally responsible for the crime of bribery. The case was tried in the Intermediate People's Court of Qianxinan Prefecture, Guizhou Province, on October 30, 2025.
