Intel had initially planned to expand its Battlemage lineup with two high-end GPUs: the BMG-X3 and the BMG-X4. According to insider Bionic_Squash, the BMG-X3 was set to feature 28 Xe2 cores, a 192-bit GDDR6 memory interface, and a 512 MB Adamantine cache, similar to AMD's Infinity Cache. However, all GPUs with Adamantine Cache, including the X3, X4, and the rumored Arrow Lake Halo, never made it to production. The reasons behind this decision remain unclear, but it's possible that the complexity of implementing the Adamantine cache, its high cost, or poor performance may have been the contributing factors. Intel's decision to cancel these GPUs marks a significant setback for the company's graphics division, which has been struggling to compete with AMD and NVIDIA in the high-end market.
