In a significant development for the Russian automotive industry, the Republic of Tatarstan has successfully launched a fully localized production of EFB-accumulators, a segment that was previously heavily reliant on imports. The Elobuzhsky accumulator plant has begun the serial production of EFB-batteries and aims to produce up to 80,000 units per year. These batteries are specifically designed for modern passenger and commercial vehicles with high electrical system loads.
Currently, foreign brands dominate the market, accounting for approximately 80% of sales. However, the new plant intends to capture around 8% of the market share upon reaching its projected capacity. The project, which cost 157 million rubles, was largely financed by the Industrial Development Fund. Notably, the production process is fully localized, utilizing no imported raw materials. Additionally, the plant has introduced more advanced EFB models, which offer faster charging, higher starting currents, and maintain their characteristics even in temperatures as low as -30°C.
