Indonesian badminton player Greysia Priyambada's dream of winning a gold medal in the 2024 Paris Olympics ended in disappointment as she lost to her Korean opponent, An Se-young, in the women's singles semifinal. Greysia, who topped her group in the earlier rounds, managed to win the first game 11-6 but faltered in the next two games, ultimately losing 1-2.

The match against An Se-young lasted for 1 hour and 2 minutes, with Greysia showing her strength in the first game, winning 4-0 and then taking a comfortable 11-6 lead. However, An Se-young turned the tables in the second game, coming back from a 9-11 deficit to win 21-13.

In the third game, Greysia started slowly, losing the first set 3-11, but managed to rally back and reduce the gap to 13-16. An Se-young, however, took control, winning five points in a row to secure the game and the match.

With this loss, Greysia will now face other semifinalists to compete for the bronze medal. Her opponent in the bronze medal match is Chinese player He Bingjiao, who will be facing former Rio Olympics champion Carolina Marin of Spain. Marin withdrew from the match in the second game due to an injury, and Greysia will receive the bronze medal without having to play in the match.
