I started experiencing eye strain and discomfort after a year or so, assuming it was due to excessive screen usage. But this prolonging, I began to notice that my vision was becoming increasingly blurry, especially when looking at people's faces more than 2 meters away. After consulting with a renowned ophthalmologist, I was surprise to learn that I had developed myopia in both eyes, with a refractive error of around 100 degrees. The doctor recommended corrective glasses and vision therapy treatment. Upon learning this, I was initially hesitant to accept the diagnosis and instead opted to seek a second opinion at another hospital. However, after some reflection, I finally came to terms with my condition. In this article, I will share my experience of dealing with myopia for the first time, including my initial questions and concerns about glasses, surgery, and vision therapy, as well as potential pitfalls and hidden costs associated with eye care. The unexpectedly turns of life often make us appreciate the things we take for granted.
