The Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) recently held a Technical Coordination Meeting for Geophysics Deputations at the De Java Hotel in Bandung. The meeting aimed to strengthen the collaboration and synergy among geophysics stations across Indonesia. Dwikorita Karnawati, the Head of BMKG, emphasized the importance of the theme, highlighting the challenges faced by the agency. As an institution responsible for providing earthquake and tsunami information, BMKG must always be prepared and provide the best services to the public. The meeting focused on discussing strategic issues, reviewing policies and work programs, and finding solutions to address existing challenges. Dwikorita stressed the importance of innovation and the continuous improvement of geophysics services, emphasizing the need for rapid, accurate, and reliable technology application. She also underscored the significance of human resources, stating that the upskilling of personnel is essential to ensure that every BMKG member has the necessary skills to tackle various situations. The Head of BMKG believes that a major leap requires a generation of willing sacrifices, providing opportunities for young people to learn and develop into experts in their fields and future leaders. The coordination between the central and regional offices, as well as among geophysics stations, is crucial to ensure timely and accurate dissemination of geophysics information. Continuous performance evaluation and target achievement are also necessary to identify areas for improvement and adapt to changing needs and public expectations. The meeting, attended by high-ranking officials from BMKG stations across Indonesia, aimed to build a stronger culture of collaboration and synergy among geophysics stations.
