Nine Dutch youths aged between 18 and 20 were arrested at the airport in Spain on August 4, on charges of damaging the rooms they stayed in at a three-star hotel on the island of Mallorca. The incident occurred on Sunday, when the hotel staff discovered that the TV screens and other electrical appliances in the rooms had been damaged. More shockingly, two connecting rooms had holes punched in their walls, allowing the individuals to bypass the corridor and move directly from one room to another. The hotel manager notified the national police, who launched an investigation. The police found that the youths were scheduled to return to the Netherlands and so arrested them at the airport and put them in handcuffs. The following morning, the nine Dutch youths were presented in front of a judge in Palma, who confiscated their passports until they paid a compensation fee of €2070 for the damages. They were released only after paying the fee.
