With the upcoming release of macOS Sequoia in the fall, users of screen recording apps will need to get more explicit permissions to function. Apple is introducing a change that requires users to grant explicit consent to these types of apps each week, and every time they restart their Mac. If you have been using the macOS Sequoia Beta with third-party screen capture or recording apps over the summer, you may see multiple prompts to allow the app to access your screen. While many have speculated that this could be an error, it's not. Multiple developers interviewed by 9to5Mac confirm that this is not a mistake. Instead, Apple has indeed added a new system prompt that alerts users when an app has the right to access their computer's screen and audio.
