Supercell, a renowned developer of mobile games, is known for creating games with a strong focus on character development and progression. However, my recent discovery of rogue servers for their popular titles Clash of Clans and Clash Royale has left me astonished. These rogue servers, often referred to as private servers, offer players unlimited currencies, gems, and hero skills, making them essentially hacked versions of the games. Notably, this phenomenon is quite surprising, as in my understanding, no other online game has been found to have a hacked version.
As a beneficiary of these rogue servers, I have experienced the creative freedom and gameplay offered by these unofficial platforms at zero monetary cost. Nonetheless, several questions arise regarding the existence of these rogue servers. Do these private servers violate the intellectual property rights of the game developers, or are they considered illegal games? Is it lawful for individual players to engage with these private servers?
One notable consequence of these rogue servers is the reduced revenue stream for the official game channels. With players able to access unlimited resources without spending a dime, it is likely to decrease the revenue generated through in-game purchases. The long-term existence of these rogue servers may be attributed to the game developers' inability to combat or ignore them. This raises questions about the developers' awareness and willingness to address this issue.
